Physical CD cover design created for a client who planned to release their album both online and as a physical product. The cover art had to match not only the specified dimensions for the digital release, but the physical case that the CD would come in, along with creating cover art for the back and spine.

Process

The client requested that the album cover align with the title of their work, Walking Downtown. The album featured electronic ambient music, designed to create a relaxing atmosphere. Keeping these requirements and the album's tone in mind, the cover art was crafted using an image of someone walking through a subway. The person was highlighted in yellow, while the background was rendered in a dark green and blurred to draw the viewer’s focus to the central figure. To enhance contrast, part of the image was divided, with a smaller section tinted dark yellow, featuring images of trains and pedestrians—symbolizing the subject’s journey to their next destination. The client was pleased with the concept, noting that it effectively captured the essence of Walking Downtown.

Once the digital cover was finalized, attention turned to designing the physical album cover. This involved refining the font, images, and colors to maintain the album’s visual identity in a physical format. Additional images were created for the back and spine of the album, drawing on different elements of the original photo to ensure a cohesive design.
